Designer Spotlight: WAGs Love Isabel Marant
This has turned into the little Isabel Marant jacket that could.
Some of our favorite WAGs have been peeped wearing the designer’s über popular jackets. The lovely Sylvie wore Marant’s cropped Jordan jacket to her husband Rafael’s street football tournament in The Netherlands this week. We are really loving the way Sylvie styled a contrasting scarf with this jacket. Mixing prints can be hard to do, but she’s done it perfectly.
It is high time we took a closer look at Isabel Marant to see what she can bring to our fashion table. Bring biscuits.
A relatively new designer on the scene, Isabel Marant has been designing womenswear since 1994. Only until recently, however, has she been recognized as a major fashion player. Her eponymous line has blown up like Chernobyl over the past few seasons due to its simple Parisian-chic aesthetic.
Cropped trousers, mini dresses, tall boots, and embellished jackets have become a hallmark of Isabel Marant. Celebs and fashion editors have been scooping up her pieces like Kickette HQ at a Ben & Jerry’s free-for-all.
Marant first came on the WAG radar last summer when Victoria Beckham was seen in the line’s skirts, dresses, and crops. Sylvie and Coleen quickly followed and the rest is WAG fashion history.
The only minor issue we take with Marant’s line is that it lacks a bit of diversity. If you’ve seen one cropped trouser, you’ve seen them all and there are only so many way to put fringe on a tall boot. We certainly don’t want Marant’s line to go the way of Christophe Decarnin’s Balmain. On the plus side, looking like a hip, effortlessly chic Parisian woman will never go out of style.
For those of us who don’t have a footballer’s wages to spend on garments, Marant has thoughtfully created Étoile Isabel Marant, a lower-priced diffusion line that is just as desirable as its big sister.
Below are some of our favorite looks from Isabel Marant’s Spring 2011 collection. What are your favorites? And which WAG do you think styled her Marant jacket best?
